Henderson police investigate fatal shooting

Henderson police detectives were investigating the death of a man who was shot early Sunday morning after an argument with his estranged girlfriend.

According to Henderson spokesman Keith Paul, a man and his estranged girlfriend got into an argument at a party Saturday night. The woman took him home, then went to her own apartment where she called a male acquaintance to come stay with her in fear her boyfriend would show up.

The woman and her acquaintance were at her apartment, near Green Valley Parkway and Warm Springs Road, when her boyfriend did show up and tried to knock down the front door, Paul said.

He eventually entered the apartment through a window.

The girlfriend’s acquaintance, who had a handgun, told the boyfriend to stop and when he didn’t stop, her friend shot him, Paul said. He died at the scene at about 1:50 a.m.

The Clark County District Attorney’s office will review the case and decide if criminal charges will be filed.

The City of Henderson didn’t release the shooter’s name on Sunday as he was not yet facing criminal charges. He was not taken into custody and cooperated with detectives, Paul said.

The name of the deceased will be identified by the Clark County coroner’s office.

Anyone with information about this incident can contact the Henderson police at 702-267-4750. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or www.crimestoppersofnv.com.
