Dr. Eugene Moehring, professor of history at UNLV, will present an in-depth history of Southern Nevada, covering the 100 years after the founding of Las Vegas in 1905, at 6 p.m. Thursday at the College of Southern Nevada, Henderson Campus, for the fifth “Henderson Speaks” event.

In Moehring’s presentation, he will outline major events that contributed to Southern Nevada’s growth in the past 100 years, including the opening of the El Rancho Vegas on April 3, 1941, the establishment of the Las Vegas Water District and corporate gaming, and Steve Wynn’s invention of the mega resort.
