Fire burns through roof of central valley home

A fire burned through the roof of a home Friday evening in the central valley.

Just before 6:30 p.m., firefighters responded to a house fire at 332 Prince George Road, near East Warm Springs and Bermuda roads, Clark County Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Larry Haydu said.

Responders saw smoke “from the rear of a two story single family residence,” Haydu said. The firefighters began “an aggressive offense attack” and found the fire near the master bedroom. The fire was extinguished at about at 6:34 p.m, he said.

Fire crews were able to locate all six of the residents’ dogs, Haydu said. The fire was contained to one room, but the home was not inhabitable, and the Red Cross assisted two men and one woman, he said.

The cause of the fire is unknown, and an estimate for the damage cost was not available.
