Firefighters respond to early afternoon RV fire

Two RVs caught fire near east Windmill Lane and Bermuda Road Sunday afternoon.

The Clark County Fire Department arrived at the scene at 8245 Fairfield Ave. about 12:15 p.m., according to department battalion chief John Steinbeck.

There were about 20 RVs on the one-acre lot when the fire broke out, he said. The blaze was contained to two RVs and was extinguished in about 20 minutes.

Steinbeck said the first responding crews had an issue because the nearest fire hydrant was 1,500 feet away. Their hoses were only 1,000 feet long. The first responders had to wait for other engines to help them put out the fire, Steinbeck said.

There were no reported injuries, and the amount of damage was unknown.
