Galapagos Islands volcano erupts, spills into ocean — VIDEO

Ecuador’s Wolf volcano erupted for the first time in 33 years last week and it was glorious.

The Galapagos National Park posted on Facebook footage of the area’s highest peak spewing molten lava into the ocean.

“The natural spectacle was captured by the crew of the M/S Endeavour, who was making his tour route around the area,” the post states. “The Galapagos National Park confirms that populations of pink iguanas, yellow iguanas and giant tortoises of Wolf volcano are out of reach of the lava flows, because the eruption is centered on the southeast flank of the volcano.”

Environmental authorities in the area will monitor for the safety of rangers, visitors and animals in the area.

Check out the eruption before it cools into igneous rock.
