Girl wins hide-and-seek, but needs rescue from firefighters

A game of hide-and-seek ended with a visit from firefighters this week when an 11-year-old Utah girl got stuck in a washing machine.

Trinity Rhoades, from South Jordan, a Salt Lake City suburb, tried to hide in the stackable washer and dryer during a game of hide-and-seek on Tuesday, but got herself stuck when she tried to climb out, according to Fox 13.

The girl’s cousins and aunt, who were home at the time, tried to get her out of the washer with butter, peanut butter and ice, but then poured warm water on the girl because the ice chilled her.

When Trinity’s mom, Nicole Rhoades, got home, she called 911. Firefighters were able to remove the dryer from atop the washer and get Trinity out about 90 minutes after she first got stuck, according to KUTV.

“It was kind of funny at the end of the day,” Nicole Rhoades told KSL. “Like, honestly, you’re 11. What were you doing playing in a washing machine?”
