Helldorado celebration to feature parade, fireworks

Helldorado, the city's Western-theme celebration, kicks into high gear with a parade, beard-growing contest and a fireworks show Saturday.

More than 100 entries will parade on Fourth Street between Coolidge Avenue and Fremont Street beginning at 7 p.m., according to parade organizers.

Road closures for the parade will start at 4 p.m.

City organizers said the best viewing will between Lewis and Ogden avenues.

The parade will be broadcast live on Cox Cable Channel 96.

For the those who have stopped shaving, the Whiskerino or beard-growing contest will take place prior to the parade at 4:45 p.m. on the First Street stage at the Fremont Street Experience.

Fireworks will be launched about 9:15 p.m. from the roof of the Fremont Square, formerly known as the Neonopolis, 450 Fremont St.
