Helmet cam footage shows skydiver’s near-death experience
Recently released video from a helmet camera shows how a skydiver survived a jump after being knocked unconscious shortly after leaping from the plane.
James Lee, 25, was hit on the back of the head by another skydiver almost immediately after jumping from a plane over Wiltshire, England, according to the Telegraph. His helmet camera recorded what happened.
Lee was knocked unconscious and began spinning out of control toward the ground before two members of his group noticed something was wrong.
The footage shows the two skydivers make their way to Lee and get him into a more stable position before deploying his parachute. Lee regained consciousness in time to make his landing, but had no memory of what had happened in the air.
Lee was sore, but uninjured, he told the Telegraph. The skydiver, who has made 1,050 jumps, said he has no plans to give up his hobby.
“I am very glad that everything unfolded how it did,” he said. “This is not something you are taught to do or practice for as it is very uncommon. I think my mum and girlfriend are more relieved than I am.”
