NLV police arrest former music teacher in lewdness investigation

A former music teacher has been arrested in a nearly 2-year-old lewdness investigation by North Las Vegas police, the agency announced Tuesday.

William Crawford, 49, was arrested Monday after someone reported to police in June 2014 that Crawford had "inappropriate physical contact" with two 12-year-old girls who were students at Somerset Academy, where he taught, police said in a news release Tuesday.

The reports said the inappropriate contact happened in October 2012 when Crawford worked at the school's Centennial Parkway campus, police said in the release.

Crawford was arrested Monday and booked into the Las Vegas City Jail on two counts of lewdness with a minor under 14, the release said.

Anyone with information should call North Las Vegas police at 702-633-9111 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
