Police investigating North Las Vegas barricade situation involving toddler
December 30, 2015 - 11:37 pm
North Las Vegas police are attempting to make contact with a man who is holed up inside his home and possibly holding a toddler hostage.
The barricade situation stemmed from a domestic disturbance call Wednesday night that quickly escalated, said department spokesman Officer Aaron Patty.
"The man is refusing to come out," Patty said. "There is a child in the home."
Officers initially responded around 9 p.m. to the home near Tropical Breeze Park, which is situated at the intersection of Tropical Parkway and Bruce Street. By 11:30 p.m. police were still trying to reach the man.
It was unclear whether the man was armed. A hostage rescue team — including armored trucks and a tactical medic — was on scene.
The man and the child are the only people in the house, Patty said.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
