Teen injured in rollover accident on Carey Avenue

A 16-year-old male is in the hospital following a single-vehicle rollover Wednesday night.

The accident took place around 6:30 p.m. at Carey Avenue and Christy Lane, according to a release from Las Vegas police.

Evidence at the scene and witnesses indicate the driver of a 2001 Dodge Caravan failed to stop at a stop sign as he was headed west at Christy Lane.

The minivan plowed through a fence and hit a brick masonry post, causing the Dodge to flip onto its top.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt. He was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
