Woman in critical condition after a stabbing in the downtown area, police say
A woman is in critical condition after a stabbing Tuesday afternoon in the downtown area, Las Vegas police said.
Several Metropolitan Police Department officers were already in the 2200 block of Sunrise Avenue, near Fremont Street and Eastern Avenue, when they heard the woman’s screams, Capt. Andy Walsh said.
Police were planting donated flowers in the courtyard of an apartment complex about 20 feet from where the stabbing happened, he said.
Walsh said his officers ran out to the street about 3:15 p.m., after they heard the screams. They found a woman with a knife wound to the chest.
She was taken to University Medical Center with critical wounds, Metro said.
A male, whose age was not available, was arrested at the stabbing scene, Walsh said.
