Man dies in Las Vegas van accident

A man died on Las Vegas Boulevard North after his van ran off the road Saturday.

According to Las Vegas police, the 49-year-old driver of a 2001 Chevy Astro Van going east on Owens Avenue drifted into a 2002 Nissan Exterra to his left and crashed into a concrete pillar by the Woodlawn Cemetery at 1500 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

The occupants of the Nissan were not injured. The man in the Chevy was transported to North Vista Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the crash was still under investigation, and the man might have been suffering from a medical condition prior to the incident.

The identity of the driver, as well as the cause and manner of his death, will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.
