Man dies in single-vehicle accident Friday morning

Las Vegas police say a man died early Friday morning after a single-vehicle crash in the southern part of the valley.

Police responded to Warm Springs Road near Eastern Avenue about 4:30 a.m., Lt. Joe Martin said.

Investigators determined the 62-year-old driver of a 2001 Honda Civic left his lane and hit a Nevada Energy utility pole. He was taken to St. Rose Siena Hospital, where he died, Martin said.

Police haven’t counted this as a traffic-related death because they don’t know whether the man suffered a medical episode that caused him to lose control. The investigation is ongoing.

Warm Springs Road was closed between Spencer Street and Burnham Avenue for several hours while police investigated.
