Man pleads guilty to sex trafficking of 16-year-old girl

A 32-year-old man pleaded guilty to sex trafficking Thursday after the attorney general’s office said he persuaded a minor to travel to Las Vegas from Utah with the intent of engaging her in prostitution.

Ian Lloyd pleaded guilty to one count of sex trafficking, Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto said.

He faces life in prison with the possibility of parole after five years at his sentencing Feb. 6 by District Court Judge Michelle Leavitt.

According to the attorney general’s office, Lloyd persuaded a 16-year-old girl to come to Las Vegas near the end of July, and he kept all proceeds connected with her prostitution.

The case is the first sex trafficking case prosecuted by the attorney general’s office after Assembly Bill 67 was passed July 1.

“The attorney general’s office will continue to vigorously prosecute these cases,” Masto said. “We have an obligation to protect the most vulnerable members of our society.”
