Murderer gets two life terms

A former gang member convicted of murder in a 1992 slaying was given two life sentences Thursday without the possibility of parole.

District Judge Jackie Glass sentenced Doneale Feazell, 34, who was tried and convicted in the 1990s in the slaying and carjacking of Derrick Hamilton, 21.

Feazell was convicted of first-degree murder and had his sentenced doubled because he used a deadly weapon during the slaying.

Feazell was sentenced to death, but the Nevada Supreme Court overturned the sentence. It found that two factors juries used in determining the death sentence were duplicative.

A new jury re-heard the penalty phase of Feazell's case in January but couldn't reach a conclusion on whether to sentence him to life without the possibility of parole or life with the chance for parole.
