Car crashes into Calif. restaurant, injures 7

DUBLIN, Calif. — Police say seven people were injured when a car crashed into a restaurant in a Northern California shopping center.

Lt. Nate Schmidt tells the Contra Costa Times that the 56-year-old female driver had just pulled into the parking lot outside Taqueria Los Pericos on Thursday night when she accidentally accelerated and plowed through the storefront in Dublin, a city about 25 miles east of Oakland.

Schmidt says six customers and the driver were taken to hospitals. Two of the customers had serious injuries, but no further details were provided.

He says preliminary investigation shows driver error is to blame and alcohol wasn’t a factor.

Schmidt says it’s fortunate that there weren’t more traumatic injuries.
