DALLAS - A 10-year-old boy suspected of beating a small dog to death with a stick has been charged with animal cruelty in Fort Worth, Texas police said on Thursday.
The boy, who has not been identified because he is a minor, chased the Cavalier King Charles mix named Cookie, then fracturing the dog’s skull and spine with the stick, law enforcement officials said.
The dog’s owner Jennifer Knittel said in a Facebook post the boy took the dog out of her backyard.
“We are heartbroken and speechless,” she said.
