North Las Vegas police seek information about fight and fatal shootings

North Las Vegas police are looking for information about a Saturday afternoon fight and shooting that left a young man dead.

It was the third fatal shooting in the city in 24 hours.

"We're really looking for some of the people there," said department spokesman Sgt. Tim Bedwell. "I can understand that people would be reluctant to return to the location. If they would contact the police department, we can arrange to meet them somewhere" and keep their identities concealed.

Police were called to the 1600 block of Putnam Avenue around 4:30 p.m. for a "disturbance in the street," Bedwell said.

"We think it was a fight involving at least 10 people," he said. "When we got there, everyone had fled, and there was an 18-year-old Hispanic male. He was deceased."

The victim was not identified Saturday.

One possible suspect is a juvenile Hispanic male, Bedwell said.

This marked the third murder in North Las Vegas this weekend.

The first took place shortly before 9 p.m. Friday in the 3600 block of Iverson Lane. A man was shot, apparently while at a residence to do maintenance work. No suspect has been detained in that shooting.

Then, at about 11:30 p.m. Friday, police were called to the Opera House Casino on Las Vegas Boulevard North for another shooting, this time by a man who was alleged to be robbing casino patrons in the bathroom. Casino security detained Stefon Clark, 21, of Henderson, and police took him into custody.

"That's three homicides in about 19 hours for us," Bedwell said. "But there's no indication of any relation between them."
