Police seek information leading up to Red Rock shooting

Las Vegas police are seeking the public’s assistance for information leading up to the shooting of D’Andre Berghardt Jr. near Red Rock Canyon Friday.

Berghardt, 20, was shot and killed by a BLM ranger after climbing into the car of a Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper about noon after he got into an altercation with authorities.

The shooting was captured on video by two men waiting on State Route 159 near Calico Basin.

Police are looking for information on how Berghardt ended up on State Route 159 near the Red Rock Loop. Anyone who had contact with Berghardt immediately before the shooting is urged to call Las Vegas police at 702-828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
