Storm stirs up dust clouds, but no big problems so far

Significant dust clouds sweeping toward the Las Vegas Valley are making it appear as though a major wildfire is burning south of town.

The clouds are a result of 50 mph winds tearing across dry lake beds on Interstate 15 near Jean and Primm and also on U.S. Highway 95 south of Boulder City, according to the National Weather Service.

The Nevada Department of Transportation erected dust hazard signs along both highways because of visibility concerns, but there had been no road closures as of this afternoon, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Dust advisory warnings are in effect throughout the night.
