Tahoe pot bust nets nearly 300 pounds

RENO, Nev. — Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a 36-year-old Lake Tahoe man on drug charges after they found nearly 300 pounds of marijuana trimmings at his home on the south shore.

The El Dorado County sheriff’s office says members of the South Lake-El Dorado Narcotics Enforcement team arrested Dwayne Allan Crenshaw after serving a search warrant at 7 a.m. Thursday at his home on Fresno Avenue just east of the Tahoe Keys.

Deputies say the marijuana trimmings were being used to create concentrated cannabis oils through several methods, including butane fuel extraction — a dangerous process that can cause an explosion and is a felony in California.

Agents found 180 expended and 65 partially-used butane fuel canisters. They seized 10 ounces of concentrated cannabis in addition to the marijuana trimmings.
