Harnessing the power of the moustache

Do you sport a retro moustache that complements your style? Or maybe a chevron moustache that says you don't mess around? Well you’re not alone; in fact, according to Wahl, maker of the most powerful facial hair trimmers on the market, more than 17 million men are wearing moustaches today. With Movember around the corner, Wahl is partnering with the global men’s health charity to let everyone know that your moustache has power - the power to change the face of men’s health.

It has the power for good, use it

Your moustache can do so much more than define your look. Your Movember Mo (slang for mustache, or moustache in Australia, where the movement was founded) can spark important conversations around men’s health, raising awareness and funds for prostate and testicular cancer programs.

Once you’ve registered at Movember.com, you’ll start November 1 clean shaven, getting friends and family to donate to your Mo-growing efforts. For the rest of the month, you’ll become a walking, talking billboard for men’s health. And according to Movember, the average Mo generates 2,413 conversations about men’s health through social media, emails, face to face interaction and more.

Make it your wingman

As your moustache grows, it will get you noticed; so make the most of your new wingman, it’s there to make you look good. The first step is to pick a style that’s right for you, as a moustache should be worn to balance certain facial types and features.

Consider the size of your nose, the size and length of your mouth, and the overall shape of your face. For example, if you have a prominent nose, consider a medium to large-sized moustache. A long, narrow face, or one with more refined features, may be better suited to a thin moustache. And rounded faces look good with a semi-square moustache, while a square face looks good with a linear moustache with slightly rounded edges curving down. Feed its needs

Now that your moustache has grown in and you’ve found a style-defining look, it’s time to maintain it. After all, you only look as good as your moustache, so here are some tips to keep it in tip-top shape:

*When considering an electric trimmer, be sure to purchase one that has power, precision, design and a long run-time. Wahl offers specific tools for each trimming style including the Lithium Ion grooming kit, the first tools to harness the powerful second generation of Lithium Ion battery technology.

*Before you trim your moustache, first comb it straight down using a narrow tooth comb, and with a snap-on length guide comb, trim it by working from the inside out in a downward motion.

*To trim the length freehand, trim hairs using an upward motion applying slow and light pressure.

*After achieving a desired length, use either a taper guide comb or freehand in an upward motion from the lip out to taper the moustache.

You now have the knowledge to make the most of your Movember Mo, so wear it proud, groom it often, and feel good knowing that through its power, you are changing the face of men’s health.
