4 Auburn football players arrested, charged with marijuana possession

AUBURN, Ala. — Four Auburn football players have been arrested on misdemeanor drug charges.

Auburn police Capt. Lorenza Dorsey said Monday that Byron Cowart, Carlton Davis, Ryan Davis and Jeremiah Dinson were arrested Saturday on charges of second-degree possession of marijuana. All four are 19 years old.

Tigers coach Gus Malzahn issued a statement saying: “I am aware of the situation and we will handle this matter appropriately.”

Carlton Davis is a likely starter at cornerback after starting nine games as a freshman last season.

Cowart, a defensive end, was rated the nation’s top prospect coming out of high school but played sparingly last season.

Ryan Davis is a sophomore wide receiver. Dinson, a cornerback, sustained a season-ending right knee injury in the Texas A&M game last November.
