Tribe bullpen demands hefty ransom for home run ball

Indians outfielder Brandon Moss should be celebrating the fact he crushed a Jeremy Guthrie pitch over the right field wall on Tuesday night for his 100th career home run in a 2-1 victory over the Royals.

Instead, Moss is stuck with a hearty shopping list.

It all started when Moss’s home run landed in the Indians’ bullpen. Knowing how much Moss would probably like to get his hands on the ball, his teammates had the rest of the game to decide how much it was going to cost him.

As it turns out, the pricetag is fairly steep.

In all, 11 members of the bullpen listed items on what essentially amounts to a ransom note.

“YOU GET THE BALL WHEN WE GET THESE ITEMS,” the note read in all caps and with an exclamation mark to let Moss they weren’t just playing around.

Most items are predictable. There were several requests for MacBook Airs, Apple Watches and Ipads.

All the players are referred to by nicknames, but Zach McAllister is likely the one asking for an iPhone 6.

Most of the attention, however, has been focused on Marc Rzepczynski.

The veteran left-hander requested an Apple Watch and a 50-gallon drum of lube.

While it’s frightening to think what his plans may be for such an item, Moss may actually be in luck when it comes to securing it.

A 55-gallon drum of lubricant is currently on sale at Amazon for more than half-off the list price of $2,500.

Sounds like a great deal.
