What you should watch today at Day 7 of NBA Summer League
The seventh day of the 2016 NBA Summer League will match seeds 1-8 against the winners of Wednesday’s games.
There will be eight games in total — four in the Thomas & Mack Center and four in the Cox Pavilion. The winners advance to the quarterfinals Saturday.
The San Antonio Spurs are the defending champions.
GAME OF THE DAY
Cleveland vs. Los Angeles Lakers — Jordan McRae scored a game-high 32 points, and Kay Felder added 22 Wednesday to help the Cavaliers knock off Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics. Will the backcourt duo have any more in the tank when they face a loaded Los Angeles team? Despite No. 2 pick Brandon Ingram playing below expectations thus far, the Lakers have started 3-0 because of the production of sophomores D’Angelo Russell and Larry Nance Jr.
WHAT TO LOOK FOR
*Minnesota won its first game of the summer league Wednesday despite Kris Dunn’s absence. The fifth overall pick in this year’s draft has missed the last two games with a concussion, but could be back to face the Grizzlies at 1:30 p.m. in the Thomas & Mack Center.
*The 76ers, without No. 1 pick Ben Simmons, defeated the D-League Select 108-71 on Wednesday. After a day of “rest,” how will Simmons respond against Brooklyn at 3:30 p.m.?
*Former UNLV guard Pat McCaw will have his hands full at 7 p.m., when the Warriors face top-seeded Toronto in the Cox Pavilion. McCaw probably will be matched up with second-year players Norman Powell (UCLA) and Delon Wright (Utah). The Raptors also have first-round pick Jakob Poeltl (Utah), Fred VanVleet (Wichita State) and E.J. Singler (Oregon).
