Trends back underdogs Wyoming, Temple, Troy

Saturday
Wyoming at Iowa: Cowboys coach Craig Bohl is 11-4 against the spread in his past 15 games and 15-7 ATS in his past 22 at Wyoming, which is 8-1 in its past nine as an underdog. Kirk Ferentz has not had a winning spread record at home since 2011 (13-22 since) and Iowa is 4-10 as double-digit favorites since 2014. Ferentz also is 1-7 ATS in his past eight openers. Edge: Wyoming.
Louisville vs. Purdue: The Cardinals are on a 0-4 and 2-7 ATS slide and also are 2-6 in their past eight games as a favorite. Bobby Petrino has covered his past three openers but is 9-11 as double-digit chalk since 2014. Boilermakers coach Jeff Brohm was 20-11-1 ATS in his past 32 at Western Kentucky, where he succeeded mentor Petrino. Purdue is 8-2 as an underdog away from Ross-Ade Stadium the past two years. Edge: Purdue.
UNR at Northwestern: Jay Norvell’s UNR coaching debut. The Wolf Pack are 13-7 ATS in their past 20 away from Reno and 10-3 in their past 13 as a double-digit underdog. Pat Fitzgerald is 4-8 in his past 12 games as a double-digit favorite, and the Wildcats are 3-8 ATS in their past 11 at home against nonconference teams. Edge: UNR.
Western Michigan at Southern California: Tim Lester’s Western Michigan coaching debut. Under P.J. Fleck, the Broncos were 12-4 as a visiting underdog the past four years, 10-4 as an underdog the past three seasons and 3-0 as a double-digit underdog. Western Michigan also is 26-14 ATS since 2014. The Trojans were 7-3 ATS with Heisman Trophy favorite Sam Darnold at QB, and Clay Helton is 6-1 ATS in his past seven at the Los Angeles Coliseum. USC also was 7-0 as a double-digit favorite past season. Edge: Slight to USC.
BYU vs. LSU (at New Orleans): Ed Orgeron is 11-5 ATS in his past two head coaching stints at LSU and USC. The Tigers are 2-6 ATS in their past eight openers. Kalani Sitake went 9-4 ATS last season in his BYU debut and was 4-0-1 as an underdog. Edge: Slight to BYU.
Temple at Notre Dame: Geoff Collins’ Temple coaching debut. The Owls were 10-1 as a double-digit underdog under Matt Rhule and 6-1 as a road underdog the past two years. Temple also is 22-7 ATS since late 2014. Brian Kelly went 1-4 ATS as home chalk last year, is 5-11 ATS in his past 16 and 7-13 ATS as double-digit chalk the past four years. Edge: Temple.
Appalachian State at Georgia: Appalachian State is 12-3 ATS in its past 15 as a visitor. Kirby Smart went 0-4 ATS as a home favorite last season in his Georgia debut, and the Bulldogs are 2-8 ATS as home chalk the past two years. Edge: Appalachian State.
Michigan vs. Florida (at Arlington, Texas): Jim Harbaugh is 9-11 ATS in his past 20 and 3-5 ATS in his past eight away from Ann Arbor. But Jim McElwain went 1-3 as an underdog last season, is 7-10 ATS since late 2015 and 2-7 ATS in his past nine nonconference games. Edge: Slight to Michigan.
Florida State vs. Alabama (at Atlanta): Jimbo Fisher is 3-1 as an underdog the past two years and 7-3 ATS away from Tallahassee. Florida State also is 6-1 ATS in its past seven openers. Nick Saban is 8-1 ATS in his past nine openers, and the Crimson Tide are 10-4 ATS away from Tuscaloosa the past two years. Saban is 15-6-1 ATS in his past 22 but 6-10 in his past 16 as single-digit chalk. Edge: Slight to Florida State.
Troy at Boise State: The Broncos went 0-6 as favorites on the blue carpet last season and are 11-27 ATS in their past 38 as home favorites. Troy went 6-2 ATS as an underdog the past two years and 6-1 as a road underdog. Edge: Troy.
Sunday
West Virginia vs. Virginia Tech (at Landover, Maryland): Dana Holgorsen is 1-6 ATS as an underdog away from Morgantown the past two seasons and is 1-5 ATS in his past six nonconference games. Virginia Tech covered its past three outside of the Atlantic Coast Conference last season. Edge: Virginia Tech.
Texas A&M at UCLA: Bruins coach Jim Mora is 5-14 ATS in his past 19 at the Rose Bowl, 10-17-1 ATS in his past 28 as chalk and 0-4-1 ATS in his past five nonconference games. Kevin Sumlin is 1-6 as an underdog the past two years and 2-6 ATS in his past eight nonconference games. The Aggies closed 2016 on an 0-8-1 ATS skid. Edge: Slight to UCLA.
Monday
Tennessee vs. Georgia Tech (at Atlanta): Yellow Jackets coach Paul Johnson is 10-5 as an underdog since 2014 and closed 2016 by covering six of eight. Georgia Tech is 5-1 ATS in its past six vs. Southeastern Conference foes and 8-3 ATS in its past 11 nonconference games. Edge: Georgia Tech.
