Los Angeles Clippers guard Dahntay Jones was fined $10,000 by the NBA on Monday.
The fine, announced by President of Basketball Operations Rod Thorn, was assessed after Jones bumped into Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green while Green was being interviewed on TV after the Warriors beat the Clippers 106-98 at Oracle Arena on Sunday.
Jones, 34, claimed the bump was an accident, saying after the game, “That’s not how you bump somebody if you purposely want to bump them.”
Green had some very sarcastic comments about it later Sunday.
“If he gets suspended, they may not even notice,” Green said of Jones, who averages 4.6 minutes per game. “But I definitely expect to be reviewed by the NBA. You know, for him to look at me and look at me again, and bump me, when I’m doing a postgame interview, that’s really smart too, when it’s on ABC.
“He got some camera time, which he needed because there wasn’t much celebration from their bench today, so you didn’t see him much. So he got the camera time that he was looking for. … He served his purpose in today’s game.”
