Durango edges Green Valley

Mia Bell scored 15 of her game-high 21 points in the second half to help Durango's girls basketball team hold off visiting Green Valley 59-55 on Thursday.

Bell also had 11 rebounds for the Trailblazers, and teammate Lindy La Rocque had 20 points and 16 rebounds. La Rocque went 12-for-12 from the free-throw line.

Jazmine Jarvis had 16 points to lead Green Valley scorers.

Liberty 43, Spring Valley 42 -- At Spring Valley, Daynice Cochran's free throw with less than a minute to play lifted the Patriots over the Grizzlies.

Amanda Delgado had 14 points to lead scorers for Liberty, which trailed 26-13 at halftime. Teaira Newman had 16 points and nine rebounds for Spring Valley.

Cheyenne 58, Canyon Springs 48 -- At Cheyenne, Raven Hicks scored 19 points and Taryn Hicks 18 to lead the Desert Shields to victory.

Amanda Kilgore and Ceira King each scored 14 points for the Pioneers.

Bishop Gorman 66, Foothill 20 -- At Bishop Gorman, Darriel Gaynor scored 18 points as the Gaels rolled.

Kiara Belen, Aaryn Ellenberg and Dannielle Diamant each added 10 points for Gorman.

Sierra Vista 49, Basic 33 -- At Sierra Vista, Jessica Mojica had 20 points and Jeanette Jackson 16 to lead the Lions over the Wolves.

Faith Lutheran 49, Boulder City 18 -- At Pahrump, Meghann Smith scored 16 points as the Crusaders cruised.

Faith Lutheran 61, Pahrump Valley JV 41 -- At Pahrump, Sabby Yeghiazarian had 15 points to lift the Crusaders.

BOYS

Green Valley 58, Durango 57 -- At Durango, Jose Rodriguez scored 25 points as the Gators survived a last-second shot and beat the Trailblazers.

Green Valley had the ball leading by a point with less than 15 seconds to go but committed a turnover.

Marcus Falley's final shot hit the rim twice but fell away.

Falley led Durango scorers with 23 points, and teammate Jamal Crook added 20 points and seven rebounds.

Cody Aughney had 18 points for Green Valley.

Spring Valley 71, Liberty 70 -- At Spring Valley, Jason Walter made two free throws with seven seconds left to give the Grizzlies the win.

Walter finished with 27 points for Spring Valley, which led 52-42 entering the fourth quarter.

Justin King led Patriots scorers with 25 points.

Cherry Creek (Colo.) 60, Chaparral 50 -- At Chaparral, Ryan Link hit a tying layup with less than a minute left in regulation to send the game to overtime, and Cherry Creek pulled away in the extra period.

Link finished with 25 points for Cherry Creek. Cardale Spencer led Cowboys scorers with 16 points.

Sierra Vista 65, Basic 56 -- At Sierra Vista, Josh McLain scored 10 of his game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter as the Lions topped the Wolves.

Marcus Brock, who had 16 points and 14 rebounds, made 5 of 6 free throws down the stretch for Sierra Vista. Josh Ross led Basic scorers with 15 points.

Bishop Gorman 62, Foothill 55 -- At Bishop Gorman, Quintin Dailey scored 12 of his 18 points in the third quarter to help the Gaels battle back from a 27-21 halftime deficit.

Jordan Hill added 15 points and nine rebounds for Gorman. Earl Jones led Foothill scorers with 12 points.

Faith Lutheran 59, Bishop Manogue 49 -- At Minden, Conner Maloney scored eight of his game-high 20 points in the first quarter as the Crusaders jumped to a 14-1 lead and cruised to victory in the Lowry tournament.

Diontea Wright added 14 points for Faith Lutheran.

Boulder City 69, The Meadows 63 -- At Boulder City, Joey Western scored 12 of his game-high 26 points in the fourth quarter, including eight straight free throws, as Boulder City rallied from a 35-27 halftime deficit.

Austin Brown led The Meadows with 17 points.

Henderson International 54, Horizon Academy 50 -- At Pahrump, E.J. Rudy had 19 points to help the Wolverines win in the Pahrump Valley Times Tournament.

Vinh Thai, who made five 3-pointers, added 17 points for Henderson International.
