Faith Lutheran standout wins state Heisman

Hannah Pavlov, a track and field star and an excellent student at Faith Lutheran High School, had been named one of two Nevada winners of the Wendy’s High School Heisman award.

The other winner is a kid from Reno, which nobody cares about down here. (Actually, his name is Sebastian Lopez, he attends Damonte Ranch High School up there, and I’m sure he’s a star athlete and an excellent student, too.)

A news release on Monday said as a state winner, Hannah Pavlov would be eligible to compete for the national High School Heisman. But when I checked the website, they already had pictures up of the 12 finalists who will be traveling to New York City in December, and hanging out with Archie Griffin, and freezing their butts off in the snow while seeing the sights.

Still, earning the state Heisman is a great accomplishment in its own right. So hats off to Hannah Pavlov, and to the kid from Reno, too.
