Jaguars DE apologizes after video showing him watching 2 women fight surfaces

A video published Tuesday by TMZ shows Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Dante Fowler watching as two women fight near an elevator in a Florida apartment complex.

TMZ identified the women as Fowler's girlfriend and the mother of his child. No arrests or charges were filed in connection with the Feb. 1 incident, which was captured by a security camera.

The video shows Fowler standing by as the two women fight before he steps in to break up the altercation.

Fowler expressed regret for his actions in a statement issued Tuesday.

"I am embarrassed and have apologized for my actions to everyone involved," Fowler said. "As a family, we have been dealing with this moment and the conflict that led to it since this occurred. This video surfacing is a sad reminder that emotions got the best of all of us. I take 100 percent responsibility for everything that happened."

The NFL said it will investigate the incident.

"These are disturbing images and we will review the matter," an NFL spokesperson told NFL.com.

The Jaguars also are reviewing the circumstances.

"Dante brought the incident to our attention prior to the video being released and was embarrassed and remorseful," the team said. "Violence of this type against others in unacceptable in our society and to our organization. We will continue to look into the incident while offering resources and providing support to Dante and his family to help him through this private matter."

Fowler, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, sat out last season after he suffered a torn ACL during the first day of rookie minicamp in May. He signed a four-year, $23.5 million guaranteed contract with the Jaguars.
