Joc Pederson reminded of rookie status with coffee run

Joc Pederson leads the Dodgers in home runs, with 19, but the center fielder is still a rookie. To remind him of this fact Thursday, Pederson and fellow Los Angeles rookies Adam Liberatore and Mike Bolsinger were forced to pay their dues in Chicago before a 4-0 win over the Cubs at Wrigley Field by making a pregame Starbucks run for their veteran teammates. In full uniform.

Pederson might still be a rookie, but he’s already a veteran of making coffee runs near Wrigley Field as last season he had to make a similar trip after getting called up in September. He took the stunt in stride, posting a picture on Instagram of the rookie trio carrying trays of Starbucks with the caption, “drink @starbucks win games #LA @dodgers.”

Chicago fans didn’t blink at the sight of three men decked out in big league uniforms walking the streets of Wrigleyville. After all, they’ve been watching men in Cubs uniforms impersonating big-league ballplayers at Wrigley Field for more than 100 years.
