Kids climb aboard Tark’s bandwagon — and his bronzed statue

When kids couldn’t into Saturday’s Ball Up street basketball season finale at Cox Pavilion because it was sold out, kids did what kids always seem to do.
They found a way to entertain themselves.
In this case, the kids turned Jerry Tarkanian’s statue on the walkway outside of the arena into a piece of playground equipment.
The dark form in the middle of the photo is Tark’s bronzed likeness, chomping on a towel. The brighter forms hanging from it are kids having fun.
I spoke to the mother of one of the kids, who had no idea who Jerry Tarkanian was, what he did or why they cast his image in bronze.
Still, I think Tark will like this photo, because the old Rebels coach had a soft spot for kids having a good time at a basketball game, even if was outside the building.
