Nevada Fishing Report

LAKE MEADCatfish are biting anchovy pieces or cooked shrimp. The best action is coming late in the evening and through the night. Striper fishing has been good any time of day, as weather allows. Fishing with cut bait, trout swimbaits or jigging spoons are catching the fish. Spinnows have been a good jigging option.

LAKE MOHAVEBetween storms it was a good week for fishing. Black bass fishing was good south of Willow Beach. Anglers have been pulling in striped bass as large as three pounds near Willow Beach and also south near Katherine Landing. Catfish are being caught from the Willow Beach fishing pier and from coves north and south of the Cottonwood Cove marina.

LAUGHLINBelow Davis Dam anglers have found the best action around sunrise and sunset. Anglers have found good fishing for largemouth bass using silver spinners in areas with lots of vegetation. Early morning fishing is the most productive. Channel catfish and stripers are biting on anchovies fished off the bottom between Big Bend and Casino Row.

LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS – Bluegill and bass are biting despite the high daytime temperatures. Mealworms and night crawlers are catching bluegill and sunfish.

KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA – Water levels are low on Adams-McGill and Dacey. Summer weed growth continues to make fishing difficult, but if you can get to open water the fishing is very good. Most fish are on the small side.

EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIRBass, trout and crappie are all biting. Look for bass at the east end of the reservoir and along the tule beds. Crappie are hanging out below the dock and are taking small nymphs or jigs. Trout will be found throughout the reservoir and will take PowerBait, night crawlers and various lures. Super Dupers, Rooster Tails and Panther Martins are good options. So too are olive Woolly Buggers or Prince Nymphs

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR – Weeds are still thinning out. Fishing is good if you can reach an area where the weeds are giving way to open water.

UPCOMING FISHING EVENTS – The Nevada Department of Wildlife will hold a free Introduction to Fly-fishing Class at 9 a.m., Sept. 23 at the Las Vegas office, 4747 Vegas Drive.
