No assault charge for P. Diddy in UCLA incident

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office has decided not to file assault charges against Sean “P. Diddy” Combs for his physical encounter with a UCLA football coach on June 22.

Combs 45, was arrested in the matter for allegedly swinging a kettlebell at an assistant coach. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

“We are thankful that the District Attorney rejected Felony charges in this matter,” his lawyer Mark Geragos said in a statement. “This case never should have been part of the criminal justice system to begin with.”

The case has been referred to the City Attorney’s Office to decide on charging the rap mogul with a misdemeanor.

Last week, Combs reportedly confronted the UCLA coach in his office after he yelled at the mogul’s son, Justin Combs, who is a defensive back on the team. Combs had been watching the practice from the sidelines.

No one was seriously injured in the altercation, which took place at UCLA’s Acosta Athletic Training Complex.

Combs reps claimed he was acting in self defense when he reached for the kettlebell.
