Erik VanMeetren had two hits and scored four runs for the Rebels (11-11) in the second game, in which they scored six unearned runs on six Wildcats errors and were outhit 14-11.

VanMeetren and Payton Squier each had three of UNLV’s 17 first-game hits, and Morgan Stotts went 2-for-6 with three RBIs. Matt Hopfner went 4-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs to pace a 21-hit attack for Northwestern (5-15) in the opener.
