Lady Rebels fall to Fresno State, will be No. 4 seed in this week’s MW tourney

The UNLV women’s basketball team couldn’t survive Fresno State’s 3-point barrage as the Lady Rebels lost 90-64 on Saturday in the regular-season finale at Fresno, Calif.

The Bulldogs hit 15 3-pointers, with all five starters making at least one and all five scoring in double figures. Ki-Ki Moore had 19 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds, and Rosie Moult had 18 points, all on 3-pointers.

UNLV (12-18, 8-8 Mountain West) led just once, at 2-0 on a layup from Amie Callaway.

The Bulldogs (21-8, 13-3) went on a 24-4 run over the final nine minutes of the first half and the first two minutes of the second half, taking a 55-30 lead. Fresno State stretched the lead to 88-58 with four minutes left.

Rejane Verin led the Lady Rebels with 18 points and 14 rebounds, Danielle Miller added 12 points and Kelli Thompson 11.

UNLV will be the No. 4 seed in the Mountain West tournament at the Thomas & Mack Center, facing No. 5 New Mexico in the opener at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
