3 players to watch in UNLV-Northern Colorado game
Three players to watch when UNLV’s football team plays Northern Colorado at 7 p.m. Saturday at Sam Boyd Stadium:
1. UNLV’s three-headed attack at running back. Whether it’s junior David Greene, junior George Naufahu, sophomore Keith Whitely or some combination of the three, the Rebels need more than the 119 yards rushing they produced at Arizona.
2. Rebels sophomore middle linebacker Marc Philippi. He, as well as the two outside linebackers, will need to take away Northern Colorado’s ground game. The Bears will be breaking in a new quarterback, so forcing him to carry Northern Colorado will be vital.
3. Northern Colorado sophomore quarterback Sean Rubalcaba. He played in four games last season, completing 4 of 6 passes for 27 yards, so the pressure will be on him to deliver, especially if his running game can’t.
