Anthropologie is selling rusty, ‘handmade’ trash can for $100

Clothing store Anthropologie is selling a trash can on its website — a distressed, rusty trash can — for nearly $100.
Named after New York's trendy West Village neighborhood, the "West Village Corrugated Can" is a handmade item featuring a corrugated tin can and either a mango wood or abaca rope handle, according to the site.
The distressed trash bin is an online exclusive item, the Atlantic reported. For those interested, the "trendy" trash can is currently on sale from $148 to $99.95. Unfortunately, the trash can does not qualify for free shipping.
This isn't the first time Anthropologie has sold mass-produced home decor intending to mirror "found art."
The retailer also offers a "Decker Double Bookcase," a brown "Burnished Wood Console" and the speckled-glass "Beaux Arts Mirror."
As The Atlantic reported, "with this particular piece of decor, Anthropologie has moved beyond shabby chic into something weirder and more pronounced. The trash can takes the logic of 'locally sourced,' and the cultural cachet of the object of 'found art,' and the general tendency of the rich to co-opt the objects of poverty, and turns it into 'design.'
