Dozens of Summerlin fans recently voted in the Best of Summerlin campaign, a fun and interactive promotion designed to recognize some of the community's most popular amenities.
"There's so much to love in Summerlin from parks and trails to award-winning architecture, scenic views and delicious restaurants. Summerlin really is the place to be," said Kevin Orrock, executive vice president of master-planned communities for The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin. "We love and are proud of all our amenities, but these 15 were dubbed the official best in this year's campaign. We congratulate them and wish them continued success in the community."
For the second year, BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse claimed the community's best dessert award with its signature pizookie -- a giant, hot-out-of-the-oven cookie served in its own deep dish and topped with two scoops of vanilla-bean ice cream.
Starbucks at The Trails Village Center, with its large outdoor patio that attracts dozens of residents daily, was once again voted the best place to people watch. And Hills Center Drive, which boasts Summerlin's double tree-lined streets and lush landscaping, maintained its status as the community's best streetscape.
New winners in the 2011 campaign include Vintner Grill, best restaurant; Chronic Tacos, best meal for less than $10; TPC Summerlin, best golf course; The Paseos Park, best park; The Trails Paseo Park, best trail; The Summerlin Council Patriotic Parade, best community event; Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, most scenic spot; Canyon Pointe Shopping Center, best place to shop; Yard House, best appetizer and best happy hour, and Red Rock Resort as the best place to take a date and best architecture.
The Best of Summerlin campaign was hosted on Summerlin's Facebook page, www.facebook.com/summerlinlv, which currently boasts more than 4,000 fans. The page launched in 2010 and has become a hot spot for Summerlin fans to learn more about the community, including activity and event announcements, community facts and promotional campaigns.
"We encourage anyone interested in Summerlin and its programming to become a fan of the community on Facebook," said Orrock.
Developed by The Howard Hughes Corp., Summerlin began to take shape in 1990 and has ranked in the country's top 10 best-selling master-planned communities for nearly two decades.
Located along the western rim of the Las Vegas Valley, Summerlin encompasses 22,500 acres with approximately 7,500 acres still remaining to accommodate future growth within the master plan.
The community is currently home to nearly 100,000 residents.
Among the many amenities that attract residents to the community are more than 150 neighborhood and village parks, more than 150 miles of the Summerlin Trail System, 26 public and private schools, 14 houses of worship, nine golf courses, shopping centers, medical and cultural facilities, business parks and more than three dozen actively selling floor plans.
Homes are available in a variety of styles, single-family homes to townhomes, condominiums and lofts priced from the mid-$100,000s to more than $1 million. Custom-home sites in The Ridges are priced from the high $200,000s. Luxury apartment homes offer monthly rents starting from the $800s.
