Business spotlight: Blow N Go

A new type of salon service is popping up across the country, and those who live in the Summerlin area have one in their back corner. Its motto is, “No cuts, no color, just blow.”

Blow N Go is in the Village Square shopping center, 9440 W. Sahara Ave., Suite 140. It offers hair styling to prepare women for special events — weddings, proms, mitzvahs or princess parties, among others. Makeup services also are available. At the heart of the business are the stylists, who help bring the client’s vision to life.

“It’s important to have great (staff), the girls who really love doing blow dries and the creative aspect of it because blow dries are a little more creative, like the up-dos for weddings,” owner Evita Allen said.

The 1,200-square-foot space opened last spring and is tucked into the corner opposite the Regal Village Square Stadium 18. Step inside to a bright world, different from the dark chairs and chemical odors usually associated with full-service salons where the focus is primarily on cut and color.

The contemporary chairs are white and worthy of an art gallery. The floor is light, as are the main counter and built-in ones for a fresh, clean and modern look.

Once a client consults with a stylist and selects a service, a tray is prepared with a sterile styling brush and any other hair care needs. There are four reclining chairs in the shampoo area. Blow N Go uses BlowPro products exclusively. They are sulfate-free. From there, it’s off to the stylist’s chair.

Brittney Price, whose family operates Avery’s Coffee at the same shopping center, went there as soon as it opened.

“They do multicultural hair,” she said. “I’m biracial, and my hair, it’s not easy to deal with.”

Blow N Go offers various styling services, including treatments for scalp and hair, styling, braiding and incorporating clip-in extensions for a different look. Scalp massages offer a 10-minute refresh.

The four staff members are certified and know how to do everything from a basic blow-out to elaborate up-dos. The business has a mobile aspect; if needed, the stylist can travel to the client.

Looking for a way to give back, Allen contacted the WestCare Women and Children’s Campus, which provides housing and substance abuse treatment for those struggling with addiction. She provided the opportunity for 10 women to receive free services valued at $1,000.

“This was a wonderful way to be able to reward them for their hard work to make all the positive changes in their lives and the lives of their children,” said Darlene Terrill, director of development for WestCare Nevada. “… Our women have stated that from the minute they walked into the salon, the entire experience, from the luxurious ambience to the finest details of their Cinderella makeover, was like a dream come true.”

Allen said she plans to open more locations in Las Vegas.
