Buyer picks Mountain Falls home

For Debbie Davis, Mountain Falls in Pahrump provides more than a brand-new single-story home in a golf-course community 45 miles west of Las Vegas. It is a place where she can live, work and play as both a resident and sales agent of the Entrata neighborhood.
"I was first introduced to Mountain Falls as a sales associate for William Lyon Homes' Entrata neighborhood when it opened in August 2007. Even though the commute from Las Vegas to Mountain Falls is easy, I decided to buy a home there myself because of the neighborhood, the lifestyle, the value," Davis said. "It was the perfect time for me to buy a house, investmentwise."
Davis chose the Plan Two, a 1,376-square-foot home with two bedrooms, den and two baths on an oversized corner lot within walking distance of William Lyon's model home complex.
"I chose the house because of its island kitchen," Davis said. "I chose a lot of upgrades for the house -- the countertops, the cabinets, the flooring, a covered patio, prewiring for lights, a paint color other than white on the walls -- things that buyers right now can choose for their own home."
Two other floor plans are modeled at the neighborhood, measuring 1,157 and 1,571 square feet, respectively. Homes are priced from the $170,000s. Three residences remain unsold in the current phase of development.
"I love living here. I know all of my neighbors, many of whom are first-time buyers, people downsizing and retirees," she said.
"When people come and look at the models, I can honestly say that this is a great place to live, that I am selling good homes and that William Lyon Homes responds to customers' needs."
Like other residents, Davis has access to the master-planned community's amenities, including the Mountain Falls clubhouse where a private fitness center, lounge area, multipurpose room and outdoor aquatic center are located.
The Mountain Falls Grill Room is open to both residents and nonresidents. The restaurant overlooks an 18-hole golf course where annual, six-month, three-month and monthly golf passes are offered to residents at a discounted rate. Passes include unlimited golf cart and greens fees.
Golf passes to nonresidents and daily greens fees are also available.
"I like to golf, and I enjoy the golf course and mountain views from the community. I like to take walks and I started riding my bike again because I feel safe doing so on the roads here," Davis said.
Three builders are constructing homes within six neighborhoods at Mountain Falls.
Classic Homes' Paradiso features five single- and two-story floor plans measuring up to 4,300 square feet and priced from the high $400,000s.
Desert Wind Homes offers Tivoli, a single-story neighborhood with homes measuring from 1,938 to 2,097 square feet and priced from the $200,000s.
William Lyon is developing the Bella Sera, Entrata, Cascata Ancora and Tramonto neighborhoods, where homes measure from 1,157 to 2,897 square feet. Prices start in the high $100,000s.
To visit from Las Vegas, travel about 45 miles west on State Route 160 (Blue Diamond Road) from Interstate 15. Before reaching Pahrump, turn left on Manse Road. Proceed to Hafen Ranch and turn right.
Sales offices and model homes are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, except Monday when they open at noon.
