NIGHT HIKES SCHEDULED
ON MOUNT CHARLESTON
Explore the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, also known as Mount Charleston, with upcoming free interpretive hikes.
n A night hike discussing wildlife adaptations after dark is planned for 8 p.m. each Friday, beginning at the McWilliams Campground host site.
n Campfire programs are planned for 8 p.m. each Saturday at the Hilltop Campground. Due to limited parking, the program is recommended for campground guests only.
The programs are made possible through a partnership between the U.S. Forest Service, the Basin Institute and the Southern Nevada Conservancy.

PLANS BUNCO TOURNAMENT
The American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer bunco tournament is scheduled for 5 p.m. Aug. 24 at 2716 N. Tenaya Way.
The $30 registration fee includes dinner, bunco, entertainment and prizes.

CITY OF LAS VEGAS OFFERS FUNDS
TO IMPROVE NEIGHBORHOODS
Thursday is the application deadline to participate in the city of Las Vegas' Neighborhood Partners Fund.
Registered city neighborhood associations can apply for grants of up to $5,000. The program funds landscaping projects, senior citizen home-safety programs, mural projects or other proposals related to the betterment and beautification of neighborhoods.
Applicants must use zoomgrants.com to submit their applications. Applicants must make a 10-minute presentation of their projects to the Neighborhood Partners Fund Board in October.
