October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. And fighting breast cancer is a cause close to Chapman Warm Springs General Sales Manager Lawrence Ennis’ heart. That’s why every Saturday his staff, from managers to sales representatives, wears pink for what Ennis has dubbed “Pink Saturdays.”
All team members wear pink attire, pink ribbons and even pink bracelets in tribute to Ennis and his mother, who died of breast cancer, and other breast cancer victims and survivors.
“I am very much a supporter of breast cancer awareness and the fact is, we all know someone who has battled or is battling the illness,” Ennis said. “It’s great to see my team come together and support the cause the way they do. We’re a family here, and it brings me such joy to see us all join together in pink. We do this every Saturday, not just the month of October.”
Ennis donates monthly to the American Cancer Society and never leaves the house without wearing “something pink.” Ennis’ son Aaron, who serves as Internet manager at the Chapman Warm Springs location, does the same.
“I had my business cards customized to show the pink ribbon,” Aaron said. “It’s my way of honoring my grandmother each and every day and it’s a great conversation topic for me, as so many are touched by this disease. My dad and I are both involved with the local chapter of the American Cancer Society.”
