Did you hear one about the Canadian comedian and the lesbian …

Well, the lesbian was the butt of a few jokes by a Toronto comedian three years ago. She didn't like it. And last week, the "B.C. Human Rights Tribunal" ordered the comedian to pay a fine for insulting the woman and her partner.
And that's no joke.
I hope this kind of thing never comes to America. But you never know as the American politically correct crowd -- instead of the principles of freedom under the Constitution -- gain an ever-more hold on modern minds.
I invite you to study this story out of Vancouver and be warned. There's a lot of good things about Canada. But human rights tribunals who can fine speech in a comedy show isn't one of them.
(Postscript: And please don't argue -- as some did in the story -- that had the amateur comedian been funnier he would have avoided the fine. That just makes the whole premise of a human rights tribunal all the more scary.)
