Dining pick of the week: 221

PICK OF THE WEEK:
221
JW Marriott Resort,
221 N. Rampart Blvd., 869-7750
221 stands for 2 Meet + 2 See = 1 Good Time. I get it, and I like it because 221 is a modern restaurant and bar where every day is happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m., starring the signature martinis and glasses of wine for half price. This is a real social venue. I also like the menu, where I can share dishes such as beef sliders, grilled lamb T-bones with Mediterranean relish, chilled prawns, seafood ceviche, cheese board, mussels and French bread, crab cakes and tortilla flatbread with caramelized onion, goat cheese and basil. The soup and sandwich can come individually or as a duo with the soup of the day being paired with a DLT (duck confit, peppered bacon, blueberry mayo) or a 221, where roasted turkey is married with Swiss and house mustard. Featured entrees are roasted salmon, grilled 8-ounce filet with grilled red onion, tomato, wild mushrooms, asparagus and fingerling potatoes, poached chicken breast stuffed with spinach, wrapped in prosciutto and served with spaghetti, and Green Peas Macaroni and Cheese. The tapas menu begins at $6, and entrees start at $14. 221 is open from 5 p.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday and from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
