PICK OF THE WEEK:
BACHI BURGER
Village Square, 9410 W. Sahara Ave. at South Fort Apache Road, 255-3055
Bachi Burgers are inspired by the Asian influence within the Hawaiian Islands, but all you need to know is that a Bachi Burger is one of the most unique burgers you will ever taste. Among them are the basic Angus or Wagyu beef burger with lettuce, onion and tomato. Specialty burgers include Ronin with caramelized onions, Japanese coleslaw, fried egg, katsu barbecue, miso dressing and yuzu citrus aioli. Others are topped with aged Gruyere cheese, garlic chili aioli, shrimp, ginger, applewood smoked bacon, lemongrass, grilled or fried onion rings, spinach and pork pâté. Then there are fries: truffle Parmesan, sweet potato or just topped with sea salt and pineapple ketchup. Several salads are Caesar (romaine, avocado, tomato, Parmesan, jidori chicken, Spanish anchovy) and Cobb with Point Reyes Blue cheese and walnuts. There are appetizers (oxtail chili cheese fries, chili fried chicken, Bachi pickles, soft fish tacos), Peking-style duck steamed buns and special sandwiches such as "no meat" burger, Lonely Bird (ground chicken and turkey) and crab cake with mango chutney. Bachi Burgers begin at $7.50, and salads start at $7. Bachi Burger is open from noon to 11 p.m. Sunday and Monday and 11 a.m. to midnight Tuesday through Saturday. - Jack Bulavsky
