Dining Pick of the Week: Crepe Shack & Waffles
October 30, 2012 - 1:31 am
10345 S. Eastern Ave. at Coronado Center Drive, 702-260-0860
Waffles date back to the Middle Ages, and crepes are a type of very thin French pancake, usually made from wheat flour. So why not Japanese-style crepes? Li Sun and Sandra Lee of Crepe Shack & Waffles have developed an innovative way to harmoniously combine crepes and waffles with fruit, toppings and ice cream. Among the specialty crepes are Bananas Foster, Rebel Special (strawberry, banana, Nutella), Strawberry Sensation, Camp Out Smore, The Elvis (banana, peanut butter, honey), East Meets West (red bean, condensed milk, mochi bites), Pineapple Express, Rock in the Road (almonds, marshmallow, white chocolate syrup) and The Classic (Nutella, banana and almonds). Create your own from seasonal fruits and syrups, ice cream (chocolate, coffee, mango, mint chip) and toppings such as brown sugar, coconut, brownie and graham cracker. The menu includes yogurt and granola fruit parfaits, waffle ice cream sandwiches and coffees. Plain crepes begin at $3.50, waffles at $4.50, specialty crepes at $4.95 and specialty waffles at $5.95. Crepe Shack & Waffles is open from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.
