PICK OF THE WEEK:
JOLLIBEE
Village square, 9430 W. Sahara Ave. at Fort Apache Road, 483-6731
This is a jolly American-style fast-food restaurant with one difference: the menu is Filipino-influenced, specializing in burgers, spaghetti, noodles and rice. The restaurant is large with room for the entire family, so expect kids, and that's OK. The 100 percent beef hamburgers come on a sesame seed bun with lettuce, tomato, cheese, mayo and ketchup. Two or three pieces of original or spicy fried chicken are served with a choice of sides, including sweet potato fries, French fries, buttered corn, steamed rice or mashed potatoes. Among the rice meals are Salisbury steak with egg and milkfish fillet, also known as crispy bangus. Jollibee's sweet spaghetti sauce with ham, sausage and ground beef is served over noodles and topped with cheese. Breakfast is served until
11 a.m. daily and features eggs and garlic rice with pork sausage, corned beef hash, beef tenders, sweet pork or spam. For dessert, enjoy vanilla softserve ice cream topped with strawberry syrup and strawberry bits. Adjacent to the restaurant is a full bakery with a variety of breads and pastries. Hamburgers start at $3.49 and breakfasts at $4.99. Jollibee is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
