La Tradicion

4371 E. Stewart Ave. at North Lamb Boulevard; 702-459-4252

Take the time to find La Tradicion to discover real Mexican food. And don’t forget: You can’t tell a book by its cover. All entrees are served with rice and beans and include enchiladas (cheese, chicken, shrimp), beef or chicken tamales, deep-fried whole red snapper or tilapia, bistec encebollado (steak with fresh slices of onions), stuffed chicken breast with ham and cheese, octopus diabla (spicy), camarones aquachiles (shrimp in lime with red or green sauce), combinacion La Tradicion (enchilada, taco, chile relleno), popcorn shrimp, and mole poblano, where chicken is baked in rich chocolate sauce. There are fajitas, tacos, burritos, soups (chicken, seafood, meatball, menudo), tostadas and sandwiches such as breaded chicken or beef and pork. Fresh lobster can be ordered minestrone style, with butter or spicy with baked potato and vegetables. Featured breakfasts are steak and eggs, omelets with mushrooms and jalapeno, machaca con huevos (scrambled eggs with shredded beef) and huevos divorciados (divorced eggs), where one egg is in green sauce and one in red sauce. Among the desserts are flan napolitano and chocolate ice cream. Entrees begin at $6.50, and tacos start at $2. La Tradicion is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Tuesday and 10 a.m. to midnight Wednesday through Sunday.
